To calculate the accuracy of your speedometer, travel at a very steady speed along a road that has distance markers. Measure how much time is required to travel an exact distance. Several miles or kilometers gives a more accurate answer than just one or two. Be sure to test your speedometer at various speeds; errors are not always linear or proportional.
