Coast-down Time

Start / Terms / Coast-down Time

Coast-down tests are used to determine drag coefficient. The vehicle is placed in neutral at a known speed on a level road and allowed to reach a slower speed. Coast-down time is the complete time elapsed, in seconds, from the exact time when the power is cut off to the exact time when the vehicle reaches the desired, lower speed. You can also shift into neutral at a higher speed and then start timing when the desired starting speed is reached.
