Start / Calculations / Performance Calculations / Cornering 1
Cornering 1 determines cornering performance based on these inputs:
Corner radius of the vehicle (not the road / track)
Track width of the vehicle (not the road / track)
The lateral acceleration (cornering force) depends only on the speed of the vehicle and the turn radius and bank. All other calculated information requires the vehicle weight, CG height, and track width.
Traction is used only to determine cornering capacity.
This calculation assumes the vehicle is in a steady-state speed and steering angle.
Cornering 2 offers a more accurate analysis but requires more inputs.
