Cornering 2

Start / Calculations / Performance Calculations / Cornering 2

Cornering 2 determines cornering performance based on these inputs:

Corner radius of the vehicle (not the track)

Banking

Road grade

Speed

Weight

CG height

CG position

Roll center height, front

Roll center height, rear

Wheelbase

Track width, front

Track width, rear

Roll stiffness, front

Roll stiffness, rear

Traction

The lateral acceleration (cornering force) depends only on the speed of the vehicle and the turn radius and bank. All other calculated information requires the vehicle weight, CG height, and track width.

Traction is used only to determine cornering capacity.

This calculation assumes the vehicle is in a steady-state speed and steering angle.

Cornering 1 requires fewer inputs but is less accurate.
