Drag Coefficient

Start / Calculations / Chassis Calculations / Drag Coefficient

The Drag Coefficient page determines the drag coefficient and the rolling resistance coefficient of a vehicle without the use of a wind tunnel, based on these inputs:

Speeds

Coast-down times

Vehicle weight

Frontal area

Follow these instructions to find the drag coefficient of your vehicle:

  1. Enter the weight and frontal area of your vehicle following the instructions you see by clicking on those items above.
  2. Conduct two coast-down time tests; one at high speed, and one at a lower speed. Enter the speeds used and the times required for each test.
  3. For greater accuracy, conduct the coast-down tests at several different speeds and analyze the drag coefficients they produce.
